Yahoo has announced a brand new Flickr experience for the desktop and its Android users. Unveiled at a press event in New York City Monday, the new look aims to breathe new life into the once struggling brand. It's move is so big, in fact, a terabyte of storage is coming to Flickr. This is enough room for each person take 537,731 photos and more than 2,000 in each country. Report: Yahoo Board Approves Tumblr Acquisition

Yahoo's board of directors has approved a $1.1 billion acquisition of blogging platform Tumblr , according to a breaking news alert from The Wall Street Journal . The deal is reportedly an all-cash acquisition, according to WSJ , and Tumblr will maintain control of its operations. Tumblr and Yahoo have not released any official statements. Report: Yahoo Board to Meet Sunday to Mull $1.1 Billion Tumblr Purchase

Yahoo looks to be very seriously eyeing a Tumblr acquisition, according to a report from AllThingsD The tech blog is reporting that the Yahoo board plans to meet Sunday to mull a $1.1 billion all-cash bid for Tumblr ATD cautions that the deal could fall apart, but was on track as of Friday evening. If the board votes in favor of the deal, it could be announced Monday, a day in which Yahoo has already scheduled a major press conference . Reps from Yahoo and Tumblr could not be reached for comment on the report. The report goes on to say that Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has been intensely interested in Tumblr for the past six weeks and feels that the microblogging platform's young-skewing audience and mobile savvy are just what Yahoo needs to reinvent itself. Tumblr 's Android app now supports tablets , the blogging platform announced Monday. In addition to accommodating larger screens, the latest update also brings a new tags page and an alphabetical "following" list that shows a user's followed people. The app's current version, 3.2., requires Android 2.2 (Froyo) and up.
